1. 🎓 Qualifications

Type Requirement
Educational Must have passed Higher Secondary Examination (Plus Two) or its equivalent.
Technical/Experience Must have a minimum of one year experience in playing Band, Bugle, Drum, and allied musical instruments of the Police Band Unit from a Firm/Institution/Band Troop having registration under State/Central Government.

2. 🎂 Age Limit

18 - 26 Years

  • Candidates born between 02.01.1999 and 01.01.2007 (both dates included) are eligible.
  • Note: Standard age relaxation will be granted to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes candidates.

3. 📏 Physical Qualifications

Candidates must possess the following minimum physical standards:

Height Must not be less than 168 cm Must not be less than 161 cm
Chest Must not be less than **81 cm** (round the chest) Must not be less than **76 cm** (round the chest)

  • Exclusion Note: Differently abled candidates and female candidates are not eligible to apply in response to this notification.
  • Physical Test: Physical measurements will be taken prior to the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), and only those who meet the prescribed standards will be admitted to the PET.

4. 👁️ Vision

Must be certified to possess the following minimum visual standards without glasses:

Right Eye 6/6 Snellen 0.5 Snellen
Left Eye 6/6 Snellen 0.5 Snellen

Note: Candidates must be free from colour blindness, squint, or any morbid condition of the eye or lids.


5. 🥁 Selection Process

The selection process typically includes:

  1. Written/OMR/Online Test: If conducted.
  2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Candidates must qualify in physical efficiency events.
  3. Proficiency Test (Practical Test): The qualified candidates shall be required to pass a Proficiency Test on the respective subjects (Band/Bugle/Drum) prior to the appointment. Proficiency will be assessed by a Practical Test conducted by the Kerala PSC.
  4. Medical Examination.
